The City of Tea Tree Gully is seeking a motivated and experienced Advisor, Work Health and Safety to provide practical Work Health and Safety advice, coordination and support across the organisation.

Reporting to the Safety Partner, you will work closely with leaders and employees to interpret and apply WHS legislation, manage safety risks, support compliance activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of safe work practices. This role will also provide day-to-day guidance and support to a WHS Support Officer.
This position will focus on safety advisory and legislative compliance matters, excluding injury management, workers compensation and return to work. The role will based at the Civic Centre at Modbury and the Service Centre at Golden Grove.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing timely and practical WHS advice to leaders and employees.
  • Interpreting and applying WHS legislation, frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Supporting leaders to identify hazards, assess risks and implement controls.
  • Coordinating WHS programs, initiatives, audits and action plans.
  • Supporting incident investigations and safety improvement activities.
  • Maintaining WHS systems, records, documentation and compliance data.
  • Monitoring WHS trends and providing insights to support decision making.
  • Providing day-to-day guidance and support to the WHS Support Officer.

About you:
You are a practical and confident WHS professional who can build strong relationships with leaders, employees and stakeholders.
You have a strong understanding of South Australian WHS legislation and can provide clear advice in a way that supports both compliance and positive safety outcomes. You are organised, self-motivated and comfortable working with a high level of autonomy.
You will also bring a team-focused and community-minded approach, with the ability to influence others, manage competing priorities and support leaders to apply safe work practices consistently.


You will also have:

  • Operational Work Health and Safety advisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation within the South Australian jurisdiction.
  • Experience supporting WHS audits, inspections and compliance activities.
  • Experience maintaining WHS systems, records and documentation.
  • The ability to interpret legislation, policies and WHS frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • The ability to support leaders and employees to achieve positive safety outcomes.
  • Strong organisation, record management and attention to detail.
  • Leadership capability and the ability to support a direct report.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety.
  • A minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or equivalent.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check.
  • Availability to travel to worksites across the City of Tea Tree Gully.

  • Level 5 remuneration of $104,068.84 to $108,312.05 plus superannuation.
