An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Workers Compensation & Injury Management Specialist to join a highly respected, international brokerage with a strong presence in the Western Australian market. Supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across a broad range of industries, you'll enjoy building trusted relationships while delivering effective injury management, workers' compensation and return-to-work solutions. Working closely with brokers, clients, insurers and rehabilitation providers, you'll play a key role in achieving positive outcomes for both employers and injured workers.
About the Role
In this role, you'll manage a portfolio of approximately 70 workers' compensation claims while providing injury management support throughout the life of each claim. You'll work with organisations of varying sizes, primarily within the WA WorkCover scheme, with occasional exposure to interstate legislation.
You'll be responsible for managing claims, coordinating return-to-work programs, providing injury management advice, and collaborating with brokers, clients, insurers and medical providers to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of workers' compensation claims from notification through to resolution.
- Develop and implement effective injury management and rehabilitation strategies.
- Prepare, monitor and review Return to Work (RTW) plans and suitable duties programs.
- Provide specialist advice to clients on workers' compensation, injury management and legislative requirements.
- Collaborate closely with clients, brokers, insurers, injury management providers, medical practitioners and other key stakeholders.
- Facilitate positive return-to-work outcomes by coordinating appropriate rehabilitation and recovery pathways for injured workers.
- Deliver training and guidance to clients on injury management, workers' compensation processes and return-to-work best practice.
- Analyse claims trends and identify opportunities to improve claim outcomes and reduce workplace risk.
- Ensure all claims are managed in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and internal procedures.
About You
To be successful, you'll bring:
- 5+ years in workers' compensation claims management (end to end) with a solid understanding of injury management.
- Prior brokerage experience is highly desired and first preference, secondly employer experience or directly with the Insurer.
- Strong knowledge of the WA WorkCover scheme and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated experience managing return-to-work and rehabilitation programs.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage confidently with a range of stakeholders.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to case management.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Exposure to workers' compensation schemes in other Australian states will be viewed favourably.
- Experience with platforms such as IBAIS, Objective Tracker (OT) or SharePoint will be advantageous, but not essential.
