Capture Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Forklift Operator / Yard Hand for a casual labour hire opportunity with a large and well established metal recycling operation in Traralgon.This is a hands on industrial role combining forklift operation, transformer processing, manual handling, scrap sorting and the use of basic hand tools. It will suit someone who enjoys practical work and does not want to spend the entire shift sitting on a forklift.
You will move between forklift duties, physical processing work and general yard activities depending on daily operational requirements.

The Role
• Safely operate a forklift to move, position, load and unload materials throughout the yard
• Process transformers and associated materials using basic hand tools and site procedures
• Complete regular manual handling and physical yard duties throughout the shift
• Sort and separate ferrous and non ferrous metals, including steel, aluminium and copper
• Assist with scrap metal processing, material movement and general yard operations
• Complete forklift inspections and report faults, hazards or damaged equipment
• Maintain clean and organised processing and yard areas
• Work safely around mobile plant, machinery, trucks, pedestrians and designated processing areas
Skills and Experience
• Current LF High Risk Work Licence
• Recent forklift experience within recycling, manufacturing, construction, warehousing, transport or heavy industry
• Comfortable completing physical work, manual handling and general yard duties
• Comfortable using basic hand tools in a production, mechanical, dismantling or processing environment
• Strong understanding of safe forklift operation and working around mobile plant
• Reliable attendance, strong work ethic and ability to follow site procedures
• Full Australian working rights
• Able to complete and pass a pre employment drug and alcohol screen
Desirable
• Front end loader licence or previous loader operating experience
• Previous experience within scrap metal, recycling or an industrial yard environment
• Experience with material processing, dismantling, assembly or mechanical work
