Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Welder to join an aerospace manufacturing team supporting the welding and fabrication of high-performance aerospace components and assemblies.

This position requires strong hands-on experience with manual GTAW/TIG and orbital GTAW welding, including experience working with exotic aerospace alloys. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aerospace welding standards, welding procedures, equipment setup, inspection requirements, and quality requirements.

This is a 3rd-shift position, working Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 PM–7:00 AM. New hires will be required to train on 2nd shift, Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, for several weeks before transitioning to the regular 3rd-shift schedule.

Key Technical Requirements

Candidates must have the following experience to be considered for an interview:

  • Manual GTAW (TIG) certification to AWS D17.1, Group IIb, IIIB, VII, 1G position, or equivalent.
    • 1G is the required minimum certification.
    • Equivalent 1G–6G certifications may be considered.
  • Hands-on experience setting up, programming, and operating orbital GTAW equipment, including Orbitalum, AMI, or equivalent systems.
  • Experience welding exotic aerospace alloys, including:
    • Haynes 188
    • Hastelloy X (HAST-X)
    • Inconel 718
    • L-605 / Cobalt alloys
  • Experience with purge systems and backing gas control.
  • Knowledge of post-weld inspection methods.
  • Experience executing WPS/WPQ/QTR requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot welding equipment and adjust welding parameters within established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and automated welding systems according to work instructions and established welding practices.
  • Position and adjust fixtures, attachments, and workpieces using hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Fine-tune welding processes within established procedural limits to achieve conformance requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Perform proper pre-weld cleaning, preparation, and handling of aerospace components.
  • Inspect hardware using visual inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot welding equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work environment.
  • Maintain required welding qualifications and certifications.
  • Follow all applicable safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Provide guidance to less-experienced welders as needed.
  • Assist with welder training, skill development, and safety initiatives.
  • Work with Engineering to develop welding processes and resolve welding-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot welding equipment while working collaboratively to support production requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of welding or related experience, or demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Aerospace welding experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with exotic aerospace alloys required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required AWS D17.1 qualifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, WPS/WPQ/QTR documentation, and quality requirements.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and apply machine-shop mathematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective English verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Schedule

Regular Schedule – 3rd Shift:
Sunday–Thursday
11:00 PM–7:00 AM

Required Training Schedule:
Monday–Friday
3:00 PM–11:00 PM
Training will be required for several weeks before transitioning to the regular 3rd-shift schedule.

Candidates must be comfortable working both schedules.

Safety & Pre-Employment Requirements

This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.

Candidates must successfully complete:

  • Eye examination
  • FAA drug test
  • Welding performance test
  • Required company welding qualification/WPS-QTR testing

Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their welding qualifications and hands-on experience during the interview and welding test process.
