Debt Litigation Specialist

An opportunity has arisen to join a specialist debt recovery business managing litigation matters on behalf of a diverse client base throughout New Zealand.
This role is suited to someone with a civil litigation background who is confident managing files, drafting court documentation, and progressing matters through the court process. You will take ownership of litigation matters from instruction through to enforcement, working within a specialised and experienced team.

The client is ideally seeking someone based in Auckland; however, due to the specialised nature of the role, experienced candidates located elsewhere in New Zealand will also be considered. Remote working arrangements may be available for candidates who can demonstrate the ability to manage litigation matters autonomously.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage debt litigation files from instruction through to enforcement
• Draft and file court documents including statements of claim, affidavits, judgment applications, and enforcement applications
• Monitor deadlines, court timetables, limitation periods, and file progress
• Progress proceedings through the District and High Courts in accordance with court rules
• Liaise with clients, counsel, investigators, and other stakeholders as required
• Assist with enforcement actions including charging orders, attachment orders, bankruptcies, and liquidations
• Provide clear updates and reporting on active matters
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with legal and procedural requirements

What We're Looking For

• Proven civil litigation experience
• Strong understanding of District Court and High Court litigation processes
• Ability to manage files and progress matters independently
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong written communication and document drafting ability
• Ability to manage deadlines and a varied caseload effectively

The Following Would Be Highly Regarded

• Debt recovery or debt litigation experience
• Experience with enforcement proceedings including bankruptcies and liquidations
