Incumbent is responsible for directing and managing the activities of distribution center(s) or 3PL within an assigned region. Responsibilities will encompass all administrative functions including, but not limited to, human resources, budgeting, equipment and site operation, customer service, and distribution of product.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in the establishment and ensures the execution of operational procedures and standards for distribution centers within assigned region. Plans and leads for warehouse management, quality control, safety / security programs and other delivery-related activity
- Develops and implements plans for facility/equipment acquisitions, modifications and/or expansions. Ensures physical condition of distribution centers and equipment remain in compliance with governmental, company and customer standards/requirements
- Negotiates contracts with third party logistics providers, settlements, and freight-handling agreements/arrangements with vendors/suppliers to ensure effective shipment of product. Examines invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations and consults specialists to effect release of shipments
- Interacts with internal and external customers to solicit new business, answer questions about services offered/required and investigate/resolve complaints
- Confers with other functional areas, such as Operations, Sales, Supply Chain stakeholders, Contract Administration, Management, etc., to review/analyze invoicing, work orders, consumption reports, and system / process requirements
- Monitors and controls resources and oversees budgets of assigned region. Identifies and initiates the purchase of material and/or services as required for the region
- Develops staffing plans and establishes work plans and schedules. Prioritizes staff workloads in order to meet product needs/objectives. Responsible for personnel management including, but not limited to, recruitment, training, performance management/appraisals, salary administration, terminations and a commitment to diversity
Requirements
Skills Required
Include demonstrated competencies and physical, mental, & interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related disciplines, with seven (7) to nine (9) years of progressively responsible work experience in distribution, manufacturing or logistics / warehouse management.
- SAP knowledge is preferred
- Knowledge of the principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes the following:
- Logistics and warehousing management
- resource allocation
- manpower and strategic planning
- leadership and production techniques
- various methods of moving goods by air, rail, sea or rod, including their relative costs, advantages and limitations
- Experience interpreting and enforcing policies and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions. This includes recruitment, selection, training, and promotion regulations and procedures, compensation and benefit packages, and employee relations. This normally is acquired through three (3) plus years of supervisory/managerial responsibility.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to discuss issues with internal/external contacts and prepare various reports, proficient in English is important

Managers Are Responsible For
- maintaining compliance with all EH&S policies and procedures by regular performance review
- conducting regular inspections to identify risk/aspects, implementing corrective action and arranging monitoring where required
- ensuring that all staff, including contractors under local control, are appropriately inducted
- providing relevant EH&S information and ensuring appropriate training;
- identifying health monitoring needs
- maintaining appropriate records
- ensuring consultative structures and staff participation by conducting regular section meetings to discuss EH&S issues
- investigating all reported incidents and reporting to department heads all action taken to prevent a similar occurrence.
Environmental, Health & Safety Management System Process Owner
- ensuring that an environmental management System is established implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of this international standard.
- reporting to top management on the performance of the environmental management System for review, including recommendations for improvements.
