About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Clinical and Aged Care Services, you will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the organisation's Infection Prevention and Control Program. Working collaboratively across the health service, you will play a critical role in reducing healthcare-associated infections, supporting accreditation requirements, promoting best practice standards and ensuring compliance with National and State infection prevention guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
- Develop, review and implement infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Conduct surveillance, monitoring and reporting of infection prevention data.
- Investigate and manage infection outbreaks and exposure incidents.
- Coordinate hand hygiene programs and compliance auditing.
- Lead staff immunisation programs and workforce health initiatives.
- Provide education, training and mentoring to clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Support accreditation activities, including NSQHS Standard 3 requirements.
- Participate in antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
- Provide expert advice on infection prevention risks, clinical practice and environmental controls.
- Liaise with external health authorities and regulatory bodies when required.
- Drive quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Essential
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Minimum 5 years nursing experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Nurse Immunisation qualification.
- Strong knowledge of National and State Infection Prevention and Control standards and legislation.
- Experience in surveillance, outbreak management and infection prevention auditing.
- Experience developing policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
- Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong report writing and data analysis capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Accredited Hand Hygiene Auditor status.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent education qualification.
- Experience supporting accreditation activities.
- Occupational exposure counselling qualifications.
- Experience in rural or regional health services.
