As a Senior Project Officer, you will support the delivery of abandoned mine management projects throughout Central Queensland. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate project activities from procurement through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
The role combines project management, contractor oversight, governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement responsibilities. You will also play an important role in improving procedures, management plans, and technical documentation that support the ongoing management of abandoned mine sites.

As a Senior Project Officer, you will support the delivery of abandoned mine management projects throughout Central Queensland. You will also play an important role in improving procedures, management plans, and technical documentation that support the ongoing management of abandoned mine sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with procurement activities, including preparing scopes of work, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Manage contractor engagements from procurement through to project completion.
- Monitor contractor performance, budgets, schedules, and project deliverables.
- Support project planning, governance, reporting, and risk management activities.
- Ensure contractors operate safely and in accordance with WHS requirements and departmental procedures.
- Review and maintain project documentation, procedures, technical guidance, and management plans.
- Assess consultant reports, technical assessments, and project documentation, providing recommendations as required.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, technical specialists, contractors, and government agencies to facilitate project delivery.
- Conduct occasional site visits to monitor project progress and contractor performance.
- Prepare briefs, reports, and project documentation for management consideration.
- Experience delivering projects within government, mining, environmental, infrastructure, construction, or mine remediation environments.
- Demonstrated project management, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in project governance, procurement, risk management, and reporting.
- The ability to review technical documentation and provide practical recommendations.
- A proactive approach to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in mining, environmental, infrastructure, or government sectors.
- Current Open C Class Driver Licence.
- Ability to undertake field work and site inspections in remote locations and challenging terrain.
