Entry-Level Power System Planning Engineer

Location: Juno Beach, FL
Contract: 12 Months
Schedule: Standard Office Hours – EST
Pay Rate: $31 per hour

We are seeking an Entry-Level Power System Planning Engineer to support renewable energy, transmission and grid interconnection projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineering graduate looking to build a career in power systems and gain practical experience supporting solar, wind, battery energy storage and transmission projects.

The engineer will work alongside experienced technical teams and consultants, supporting power system modeling, engineering studies, project documentation and interconnection activities while developing experience with industry-standard power system analysis tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect engineering drawings, equipment specifications and technical datasheets for use in power system models and engineering studies.

  • Review engineering inputs for accuracy and completeness before they are incorporated into studies.

  • Maintain organized records of drawings, specifications, equipment information and other technical documentation.

  • Track engineering studies performed internally and by external consultants.

  • Coordinate required technical information and data inputs to help studies progress accurately and on schedule.

  • Assist with basic power flow, voltage and stability studies under the guidance of experienced engineers.

  • Learn and apply industry-standard power system analysis tools including PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF and ASPEN.

  • Support the creation and validation of power system models for solar, wind and battery energy storage projects.

  • Assist with transmission and grid interconnection activities.

  • Monitor interconnection requirements and document potential project impacts for internal teams.

  • Participate in engineering meetings and contribute to technical discussions with guidance from senior engineers.

  • Support the development of internal engineering tools and processes to improve efficiency.

  • Prepare draft technical reports, presentations and project communications for review by senior staff.

  • Perform other related engineering duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required.

  • Strong interest in power systems, transmission planning and renewable energy.

  • Interest in developing knowledge of grid interconnection and power system studies.

  • Willingness to learn power system modeling and analysis techniques.

  • Willingness to develop proficiency with tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF and ASPEN.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Ideal Candidate

This position is particularly well suited to a recent Electrical Engineering graduate with academic exposure to power systems, transmission, renewable energy or electrical grid analysis.

Previous professional experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF or ASPEN is not required. Candidates with university coursework, projects, internships or research involving power systems, load flow, transmission, renewable generation or grid modeling are encouraged to apply.
