We are looking for an experienced Pilot Driver to join a road maintenance crew based in Taupō.
This role involves driving a pilot ute around active roadworks and mobile worksites, helping keep the maintenance crew and other road users safe. We are looking for someone who is confident driving around roadworks, understands traffic management, and can follow site and safety procedures.

This role involves driving a pilot ute around active roadworks and mobile worksites, helping keep the maintenance crew and other road users safe. We are looking for someone who is confident driving around roadworks, understands traffic management, and can follow site and safety procedures.
What you'll be doing:
- Driving a pilot ute in front of or behind the road maintenance crew.
- Operating the vehicle's warning lights, signage and safety equipment.
- Monitoring approaching traffic and hazards around the worksite.
- Communicating with the maintenance crew and following their instructions.
- Following the site instructions and directions from the person in charge.
- Working safely around live traffic and mobile roadworks.
- Completing company training and being signed off as competent to operate the pilot ute.
What we're looking for:
- Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence.
- Previous experience driving or working around road maintenance, roadworks or civil worksites.
- Good understanding of Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) and working safely around live traffic.
- Confident operating a pilot ute and its warning equipment/signage.
- Able to pass a Ministry of Justice (MOJ) check.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must have the right to work in New Zealand.
