The City of Logan is one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities, driven by major infrastructure investment, rapid population growth, and its exciting role as a co-host city for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The City of Logan is entering an exciting new phase with big picture thinkers helping shape the future. There’s purpose in our step and fresh energy in the air, with a focus on delivering exceptional service and value for money – with heart.

As part of this exciting growth, Logan Water plays a vital role in shaping the city’s future. Established as a Directorate of Logan City Council, Logan Water delivers essential water and wastewater services that enable the city to thrive while safeguarding the sustainability of our natural resources. Responsible for $4 billion in assets, generating $270 million in annual revenue, and managing around $350 million in capital and operational expenditure each year, Logan Water is a cornerstone of the city’s success. With a vision to be reliable, sustainable, and committed, we remain focused on providing safe, dependable, and environmentally responsible water and sewerage services for the benefit of the entire Logan community.

Reporting to the Water Development Services Assessment Team Leader, the Principal Development Assessment Engineer is a pivotal technical role within Logan Water's Development Services Program. At a time of significant growth and transformation, this position will play a key role in shaping how Logan Water assesses, supports and enables development across one of Queensland's fastest-growing communities.

As the senior technical specialist, you will provide expert guidance on complex water and wastewater development assessment matters, while driving quality assurance, capability uplift and continuous improvement across the function. A key focus of the role will be leading the assessment of complex development applications, negotiating infrastructure and tankering agreements, and resolving challenging technical and commercial issues with developers, consultants, government agencies and industry stakeholders. You will bring a balanced and pragmatic approach to development outcomes, combining strong engineering judgement with exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills to achieve outcomes that support both community expectations and sustainable growth.

This role will also play a significant part in Logan Water's business improvement journey. Working closely with leadership, you will contribute to the development of quality assurance frameworks, decision-making tools, customer-facing guidance, onboarding and competency programs, and a range of initiatives designed to enhance service delivery, consistency and operational performance. Your ability to identify opportunities, influence change and translate technical expertise into practical improvements will be critical to success.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring extensive experience in water and wastewater development assessment, infrastructure planning, land development or related engineering environments. You will possess strong technical knowledge of the development assessment process, water and sewer infrastructure planning principles, and the broader development industry. Equally important will be your ability to coach others, manage complex stakeholder relationships, navigate sensitive negotiations and drive continuous improvement outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing organisation at a pivotal stage of its evolution. Offering a nine-day fortnight, flexible work arrangements, ongoing professional development and exposure to some of South-East Queensland's most significant growth and infrastructure challenges, this role provides the chance to make a lasting impact on the future of Logan Water and the communities it serves.
