The Role

This is an opportunity to shape the future of philanthropy at Landcare Australia. Working closely with CEO Dr Shane Norrish and board members including Chair Peter Garrett AM and Robert Purves, you will establish the strategy, relationships and foundations that position philanthropy as a core pillar of the organisation's long-term sustainability.

Initially, you will focus on developing and implementing the philanthropy strategy, identifying compelling opportunities for philanthropic investment and establishing the foundations for long-term success.
As the program matures, you will cultivate relationships with major donors, trusts, foundations and strategic partners to deliver sustainable philanthropic growth and support Landcare Australia's mission.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing Landcare Australia's philanthropy strategy and sustainable revenue growth plans
  • Developing compelling cases for support and philanthropic funding propositions aligned with organisational priorities
  • Building and managing a pipeline of major donors, family foundations and philanthropic prospects
  • Partnering with the CEO, Board and executive team to cultivate major philanthropic relationships and funding opportunities


Skills Required

You are an experienced philanthropy professional with the strategic capability to establish and grow programs and the relationship skills to engage donors, executives and board members alike. You thrive in entrepreneurial environments and are energised by the opportunity to shape a significant new function and deliver lasting organisational value.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Success establishing, designing or significantly growing philanthropy or major gifts programs
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, including working effectively with executives, boards and senior donors
  • Experience developing philanthropy strategies, cases for support and funding propositions that have secured philanthropic investment
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian philanthropic landscape and donor engagement strategies
  • Outstanding written communication, strategic planning and project management capabilities
