Our Client is seeking a passionate and strategic Community Assets Planning Officer to play a key role in planning, developing, and enhancing community assets and public spaces. This is an exciting opportunity for a planning professional who enjoys working collaboratively with stakeholders, driving strategic initiatives, and making a positive impact on the community.

About the Role Reporting to the Community Assets Planning Team Leader, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing strategies, policies, and plans that guide the future direction of community assets and services.

You will work across a diverse range of projects, helping to ensure that community infrastructure and public spaces continue to meet the evolving needs of residents, visitors, sporting groups, and community organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Plans of Management, Master Plans, and strategic policies for community assets.
  • Support the planning and review of public land, recreation facilities, and community infrastructure.
  • Prepare grant applications and supporting documentation to secure funding opportunities.
  • Research social, economic, and industry trends to inform planning and service delivery.
  • Review legislation, policies, and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate and support community engagement and consultation activities.
  • Provide advice and support to community groups, sporting organisations, and Council committees.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and stakeholder requests.
  • Coordinate projects from planning through to delivery.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of planning expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and project coordination experience.

You will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Strategic Planning, Town Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Recreation Planning, Asset Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in community and recreation services and/or asset management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategic plans, master plans, and plans of management.
  • Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of Local Government, Environmental Planning and Assessment legislation, State Environmental Planning legislation, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current driver's licence.
  • WorkCover General Induction accreditation (or willingness to obtain).
