Apply directOur client, an established food production company in West Cork, is seeking an experienced Deputy Quality Manager to join their team.
This is a senior Quality role, ideal for an experienced food manufacturing professional ready to take on greater responsibility and act as the key deputy to the Quality Manager.
You will support the day-to-day management of the Quality function and team, while taking full responsibility for Quality operations in the absence of the Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate the Quality team and daily Quality activities
- Lead the Quality function in the absence of the Quality Manager
- Lead and support internal, customer, third-party and regulatory audits
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System and HACCP system
- Ensure compliance with FSAI requirements, food safety legislation and customer standards
- Oversee food safety, product integrity, legality and quality across the production floor
- Investigate quality issues and implement effective corrective actions
- Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding quality, specifications, documentation and complaints
- Coordinate production record reviews and calibration requirements
- Support quality and food safety training across the site
- Monitor quality performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
What We Are Looking For
- Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Management or a related discipline
- Previous Quality, QA, Technical or Food Safety experience within food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety legislation and quality systems
- Experience with audits and regulatory/customer compliance
- Previous experience supervising or leading a Quality or Technical team
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Confidence to step up and lead the Quality function when required
