We are looking for a Media and Communications professional to join our client, a Sydney local council, on a short-term contract to provide immediate coverage in a fast-paced and highly visible communications function.
This is a hands-on content creation role where you will take ownership of both external social media and internal communications, ensuring consistent, engaging, and professional messaging across all channels.

This is a hands-on content creation role where you will take ownership of both external social media and internal communications, ensuring consistent, engaging, and professional messaging across all channels.
What you'll be doing
- Create, edit and publish engaging content across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Shoot and edit short-form video content using mobile devices for social media use
- Design high-quality social media assets independently using Canva
- Develop and manage email campaigns and newsletters via MailChimp (or similar platforms)
- Take ownership of internal communications, including weekly GM newsletters
- Work autonomously while collaborating with wider teams
- Liaise confidently with stakeholders across all levels, including Directors and senior leadership
- Travel to various sites within the LGA (e.g. operations centres, parks, pools) to capture content
- Adapt tone and messaging for different audiences, ensuring alignment with professional and community standards
- Proven experience in media, communications or content creation roles
- Strong proficiency in Canva and social media content production
- Experience creating video content using mobile devices, including editing capability
- Experience with MailChimp or similar email marketing platforms
- Ability to work independently in a busy and dynamic environment
- Strong attention to detail with excellent written communication skills
- Current driver’s licence (travel between local sites required)
- Available to work in office daily (core hours 10am–3pm, 7-hour workday)
- Opportunity to work with a local council
