We are partnering with a Sydney-based university to secure an experienced Cloud Architect to support a major AWS migration and cloud modernisation program. This is a contract opportunity through to the end of the year initially, with strong extension potential, working across a complex enterprise environment spanning migration delivery, optimisation and ongoing uplift initiatives.

This role will suit a hands-on Cloud Solution Architect with a strong engineering background who can combine technical architecture, governance and delivery support in a collaborative stakeholder-heavy environment.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead solution and cloud architecture design across AWS migration and modernisation initiatives
  • Produce high-level solution designs, architecture artefacts and supporting documentation
  • Work closely with Cloud Ops, Engineering teams, application owners and the vendor to support delivery outcomes
  • Present and defend solutions through Architecture Review Board (ARB) and governance forums
  • Ensure solutions align to security, scalability, operability and enterprise architecture standards
  • Support engineering teams through implementation, troubleshooting and architecture guidance
  • Engage across infrastructure, applications, data and security stakeholders in a complex enterprise setting
Key experience sought:
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or Solution Architect in large, complex environments
  • Strong AWS architecture expertise, ideally with migration and post-migration uplift experience
  • Background in cloud engineering, platform engineering or infrastructure engineering highly regarded
  • Experience taking solutions through architecture governance, design authority and ARB processes
  • Strong solution design, stakeholder engagement and documentation capability
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on architect role with a background in Cloud Engineering ideal. 
Desirable:
  • Experience working in complex enterprise or highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of AWS Well-Architected principles, cloud security patterns and modern architecture practices
  • Broader Azure or GCP exposure beneficial though AWS is the core focus
