Position Details
The Speech?Language Pathologist (SLP) helps students with speech, language, and communication disorders reach their maximum communication potential to support academic success.
Core Responsibilities
? 1. Evaluation & Assessment
- Conduct screenings, evaluations, and diagnostic testing
- Analyze results and determine eligibility for services
- Recommend appropriate interventions and programs
? 2. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Develop and implement IEPs for speech?language eligible students
- Collaborate with:
- Teachers
- Parents
- Special education teams
- Participate in IEP meetings and decision?making
? 3. Direct Therapy Services
- Provide speech-language therapy (individual or group)
- Address:
- Articulation
- Language delays
- Fluency
- Social/pragmatic communication
- Use evidence-based techniques aligned with curriculum
? 4. Collaboration & Consultation
- Work closely with:
- General education and EC teachers
- School psychologists and other specialists
- Provide consultation and referrals
- Support classroom strategies and communication goals
? 5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and up?to?date records
- Track progress toward IEP goals
- Ensure compliance with:
- Federal laws (IDEA)
- NC state regulations
- District policies
? 6. Program Planning & Support
- Plan therapy programs that support classroom curriculum
- Use diagnostic tools, assistive technology, and AAC as needed
- Make recommendations for services and accommodations
? 7. Additional Duties
- Provide professional consultation to staff and families
- Stay updated on research and best practices
- Perform other related duties assigned by the district
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech?Language Pathology
- Eligible for or hold:
- NC SLP license and/or NC teaching license
- Preferred:
- Experience in school setting
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC?SLP)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- Speech?language development and disorders
- Assessment tools and therapy techniques
- Understanding of:
- Special education laws (IDEA)
- IEP development and implementation
- Ability to:
- Deliver therapy and track progress
- Use assistive technology and AAC tools
