• Position Details

  The Speech?Language Pathologist (SLP) helps students with speech, language, and communication disorders reach their maximum communication potential to support academic success.

   

  Core Responsibilities

  ? 1. Evaluation & Assessment

  1. Conduct screenings, evaluations, and diagnostic testing
  2. Analyze results and determine eligibility for services
  3. Recommend appropriate interventions and programs

  ? 2. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

  1. Develop and implement IEPs for speech?language eligible students
  2. Collaborate with:
  3. Teachers
  4. Parents
  5. Special education teams
  6. Participate in IEP meetings and decision?making

  ? 3. Direct Therapy Services

  1. Provide speech-language therapy (individual or group)
  2. Address:
  3. Articulation
  4. Language delays
  5. Fluency
  6. Social/pragmatic communication
  7. Use evidence-based techniques aligned with curriculum

  ? 4. Collaboration & Consultation

  1. Work closely with:
  2. General education and EC teachers
  3. School psychologists and other specialists
  4. Provide consultation and referrals
  5. Support classroom strategies and communication goals

  ? 5. Documentation & Compliance

  1. Maintain accurate and up?to?date records
  2. Track progress toward IEP goals
  3. Ensure compliance with:
  4. Federal laws (IDEA)
  5. NC state regulations
  6. District policies

  ? 6. Program Planning & Support

  1. Plan therapy programs that support classroom curriculum
  2. Use diagnostic tools, assistive technology, and AAC as needed
  3. Make recommendations for services and accommodations

  ? 7. Additional Duties

  1. Provide professional consultation to staff and families
  2. Stay updated on research and best practices
  3. Perform other related duties assigned by the district

   

  Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in Speech?Language Pathology
  2. Eligible for or hold:
  3. NC SLP license and/or NC teaching license
  4. Preferred:
  5. Experience in school setting
  6. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC?SLP)

   

  Knowledge & Skills

  1. Strong knowledge of:
  2. Speech?language development and disorders
  3. Assessment tools and therapy techniques
  4. Understanding of:
  5. Special education laws (IDEA)
  6. IEP development and implementation
  7. Ability to:
  8. Deliver therapy and track progress
  9. Use assistive technology and AAC tools
