Data Engineer (Intermediate - Senior) | Auckland | 3-month Contract

Hands-on contract opportunity with a well-known New Zealand organisation, sitting within their Technology team and working closely alongside the Data and Analytics function.

About the role
The business is mid-way through a platform migration, moving reporting from a legacy system into Snowflake, and they need a capable data engineer to help carry it across the line.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the full data lifecycle from ingestion through to modelling
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting ingestion pipelines to ensure reliable data flow
  • Extending and enhancing existing dbt models, including adding fields and building out new dimensions and fact tables
  • Contributing to the migration of reporting from the current platform into Snowflake
  • Collaborating with the Data and Analytics team to understand reporting requirements and translate them into robust data models
About you
 You are an experienced data engineer who is comfortable jumping into an existing codebase, identifying what needs doing, and getting on with it. You work well in a team environment and take pride in delivering reliable, well-structured data infrastructure. 
  • Solid hands-on experience with Snowflake (non-negotiable)
  • Proven experience with dbt for data modelling and transformation
  • Strong understanding of data pipeline management and troubleshooting
  • Experience working within an established data platform and extending existing models
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Azure Data Factory (ADF) is a bonus
