This commercial construction company has been established for over 20 years and has delivered a broad range of projects, including fit-outs, refurbishments, and new builds in the $5M to $40M range. With a strong repeat client base, the company consistently delivers high-quality commercial projects and has a robust pipeline of work scheduled over the next two years in Canberra.

ABOUT THE ROLE.

As Site Manager, you will oversee all on-site construction activities for commercial fit-out projects. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the site, trades, and contractors, ensuring the project is delivered to high standards of WHS compliance, quality, and time management. You will be supported by a well-structured team consisting of a Project Manager, Contracts Administrator, Foreman, and Leading Hand.

DUTIES.
  • Manage all on-site construction activities from start to finish
  • Ensure all works comply with WHS legislation, company policies, and quality standards
  • Schedule and manage the construction program, including critical path planning and milestones
  • Oversee, coordinate, and manage subcontractors and trades to ensure efficiency and quality
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and budget to the Project Manager
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including daily logs, site diaries, and compliance records
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions for site personnel
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders on site
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site productivity
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE.
  • Trade qualification in Carpentry or equivalent (highly desirable)
  • Commercial construction experience, preferably in fit-out projects 
  • Proven experience in managing teams and coordinating multiple subcontractors on site
  • Strong track record of stability and reliability with previous employers
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation and ability to enforce compliance on site
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders
  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team
