I am dealing with a highly engaged Hiring Team who are eager to fill this strategic position within the Engineering team.

scaling multi-tenant systems
performance bottlenecks
data consistency and correctness
distributed systems trade-offs

ability to explain trade-offs (not just outcomes)
willingness to say “this is the wrong approach and here’s why”
They don’t need to be coding 100% of the time, but they must be:
comfortable reading and reviewing real code
capable of jumping into a system and contributing
grounded in how things actually work, not just how they should work
