About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Cyber Security & Risk Engineer to support and enhance cyber security operations across a complex ICT landscape.

You will be responsible for managing the operational lifecycle of security technologies, driving secure-by-design initiatives, and improving the organisation’s overall security posture through proactive risk management and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end operational lifecycle of cyber security services across mission-critical systems
• Oversee and ensure timely resolution of incidents, service requests, and change activities
• Maintain and enforce security configurations, policies, and operational procedures
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate ICT security risks and vulnerabilities
• Develop and implement security architectures, engineering patterns, and technical standards
• Drive secure-by-design practices across infrastructure, cloud, and applications
• Lead and contribute to cyber security uplift and continuous improvement initiatives
• Evaluate and implement security technologies and tools aligned to organisational needs

Key Requirements

• 10+ years experience in cyber security engineering within complex enterprise environments
• Proven experience implementing security controls across infrastructure, cloud, and application layers
• Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, frameworks, and standards
• Hands-on exposure to security tooling and enterprise technologies
• Strong problem-solving and ability to operate in highly complex ICT environments

Nice to Have

• Experience working within federal government environments
• Experience in Agile delivery environments
• Strong focus on mentoring, knowledge sharing, and team uplift initiatives

Security & Eligibility Requirements

• Must hold an active NV2 security clearance
• Must be based in Canberra or Melbourne with the ability to work on-site in Ballarat
