About the Role
We’re looking for an Intermediate Hydraulic Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services consultancy. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, coordination, and support of hydraulic services for commercial, industrial, and institutional building projects. You’ll work closely with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, fire) to deliver projects on time, to spec, and in accordance with all relevant codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design of hydraulic systems including (but not limited to) water supply, sanitary drainage, stormwater, gas, fire services, and plumbing systems
Produce detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications
Perform hydraulic calculations (e.g. pipe sizing, flow & pressure calculations, drainage, etc.)
Prepare documentation for compliance with Australian Standards, local authority / council requirements, and building codes
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated services design
Liaise with clients, contractors, sub-consultants, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve design issues
Review and check shop drawings and as-built documentation
Contribute to continuous improvement of design practices and internal standards
What We’re Looking For
Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical / Civil / Building Services or equivalent)
3–5+ years’ experience in hydraulic design within a Building Services consultancy
Strong knowledge of hydraulic services codes, standards, and regulations in Australia
Proficiency with hydraulic calculation software, CAD tools (e.g. Revit / AutoCAD), and ability to prepare detailed design deliverables
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise across multidisciplinary teams and clients
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver to deadlines
Capacity to mentor junior engineers or drafters, when required.
