Head of R&D and Engineering (Toys, Stationery, Gifts)

Job Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept validation, prototyping, testing, and engineering development through to mass production.

• Provide hands-on technical oversight across key engineering disciplines, including mechanical design, materials selection, and electronics integration where applicable.

• Partner closely with design and commercial stakeholders to translate creative concepts into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions.

• Work closely with external manufacturing partners to ensure product quality, production efficiency, and on-time delivery. Resolve technical and production challenges proactively.

• Establish and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation using structured methodologies to ensure successful project execution.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce cost, and improve speed-to-market through engineering best practices.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree is an advantage)
• Minimum 7 years of experience in product engineering and team leadership
• Background in consumer products, toys, or related industries is highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as plastics injection, product assembly, and quality control systems
• Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
• Proven ability to work with cross-border teams and external suppliers
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• A passion for product innovation and design-driven development
