As part of this expansion, the fund is seeking an experienced LATAM Credit Research Analyst to join its discretionary credit group. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to work alongside a seasoned Portfolio Manager covering complex, event-driven opportunities across Latin America.
Role Overview
The Senior LATAM Credit Research Analyst will be responsible for delivering deep fundamental research across Latin American sovereign and quasi-sovereign issuers, with a particular focus on frontier and distressed emerging market situations. The role involves generating detailed, investment‑ready trade ideas and partnering closely with the Portfolio Manager to shape portfolio construction and risk positioning.
Coverage will include both local- and hard‑currency instruments, with exposure to cash bonds, derivatives (including CDS and warrants), and a range of special‑situation structures.
This role requires a hands‑on, highly analytical approach, strong familiarity with distressed and restructuring scenarios, and a willingness to travel extensively across the region to engage with policymakers, regulators, and senior leadership at state‑owned enterprises.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct deep-dive fundamental credit analysis on Latin American sovereign and quasi-sovereign issuers, including distressed and frontier markets (e.g., Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador).
- Develop, articulate, and maintain clear trade recommendations for implementation by the Portfolio Manager.
- Evaluate complex capital structures and assess recovery values, restructuring outcomes, and downside scenarios.
- Monitor macroeconomic, political, and idiosyncratic developments across assigned countries and issuers.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation frameworks, and scenario analyses.
- Formulate views across both cash and derivative instruments, including CDS and structured credit products.
- Provide ongoing surveillance of existing positions, flagging material changes in creditworthiness or risk factors.
- Collaborate closely with the Portfolio Manager and broader discretionary team to support portfolio strategy and risk management.
- Travel frequently across Latin America to meet with government officials, central bank representatives, and senior executives of state-owned enterprises.
- Approximately 10+ years of relevant experience in LATAM credit research, distressed EM investing, or sovereign/quasi-sovereign analysis.
- Demonstrated track record in analysing frontier and distressed EM credit situations.
- Expertise in evaluating restructuring scenarios, recovery analysis, and event-driven catalysts.
- Strong understanding of both local and hard currency bonds, as well as derivatives (CDS, warrants, etc.).
- Ability to synthesize complex political, macroeconomic, and credit data into actionable investment insights.
- Exceptional financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce crisp, decision‑ready research.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Latin America.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred but not required.
