Bridge Engineer

Aspect Personnel is recruiting a Bridge Engineer to support a major regional rail inspection program across VIC, NSW and QLD.

The first 6 months will be focused solely on Level 2 and Level 3 bridge and structural inspections in the field. The work pattern is approximately 2 weeks travelling on site, followed by 2 weeks office-based reporting.

The role can be structured as either an initial 6-month contract or a permanent appointment from the outset. Either way, candidates must be comfortable with the first 6 months being travel-heavy and inspection-focused.

• Focus on technical bridge and structural inspections, not general design work
• Clear 2 weeks away / 2 weeks reporting rhythm
• $230/day LAHA while travelling
• Option to move into a broader engineering role after the inspection phase
• Permanent, contract or extension pathways available depending on fit

Key Responsibilities

• Complete Level 2 visual inspections across bridge and structural assets
• Undertake Level 3 engineering inspections and condition assessments
• Identify defects, deterioration, structural issues and maintenance priorities
• Capture site data, photos, observations and asset condition information
• Prepare clear inspection reports with practical recommendations
• Travel across regional VIC, NSW and QLD as part of the inspection program

Skills & Experience

• Civil or structural engineering background
• Bridge, structures or transport infrastructure inspection experience
• Exposure to Level 2 and/or Level 3 inspections highly regarded
• Strong understanding of defects, deterioration and structural condition assessment
• Ability to write clear technical reports from field inspection data
• Comfortable travelling regularly and working across regional rail environments
• Rail experience, RIW access, ARTC exposure, AS 5100 knowledge or previous work across bridges, culverts, retaining walls and civil structures will be highly regarded.
