ABOUT THE COMPANY.
Join our Local Council based in Western Sydney, looking for an experienced Media Advisor to shape strategic messaging and manage media relations for one of Sydney's fastest growing cities.
ABOUT THE ROLE.
This is a 3 month contract with possibility for extension. You will play a key role in advising the Lord Mayor, Council staff and Executive team on media strategy, media crisis management and identify opportunities for positive media coverage.
DUTIES.
- Monitor news cycles and deliver timely media briefings and responses
- Prepare high-quality media releases, speeches, and briefing materials
- Develop and execute media strategies and campaigns
- Coordinate events, and public engagements
- Engage with Government agencies/representatives and community groups
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE.
- Council or Government experience is highly regarded
- Tertiary qualification in in Communication, Journalism, Politics or Public Relations (or similar)
- 5+ years' experience in media, communications, or government relations
- Extensive experience in writing speeches, media releases and supporting materials
