Carers SA is the peak body supporting unpaid family and friend Carers across South Australia, providing advocacy, information and tailored support to improve the wellbeing, resilience and recognition of Carers in the community. As a not-for-profit organisation and the lead provider of the Australian Government’s Carer Gateway program in South Australia, Carers SA delivers a wide range of services including carer support planning, counselling, respite, education and coaching, supporting Carers across metropolitan, regional and remote areas.

Role Overview
The Program Manager – Carer Assessment and Support Planning is responsible for leading the delivery, performance and continuous improvement of a key service area within Carers SA, ensuring high-quality, person-centred outcomes for Carers. Overseeing a multidisciplinary team, this role manages the end-to-end delivery of services including advice and referrals, carer assessments, service coordination, emergency respite and tailored support packages. Working closely with internal teams, partner organisations and senior leadership, the position ensures services are delivered in line with funding requirements, quality standards and organisational priorities.
The role also plays a critical part in financial oversight, workforce planning and stakeholder engagement, driving strong program performance, data integrity and service innovation. With a focus on leadership, collaboration and impact, this position supports team capability, promotes a positive and accountable culture, and ensures Carers receive responsive, respectful and effective support. Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in program or operational management within community services or a related sector
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary or geographically dispersed teams
- Demonstrated financial management skills, including budget development, monitoring and reporting
- Experience managing service delivery within funding and compliance frameworks
- High level of competence using digital systems, data management platforms and reporting tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, stakeholders and partner organisations
- Problem-solving capability, with a focus on continuous improvement and service quality
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across internal and external stakeholders
- Commitment to person-centred, culturally responsive and trauma-informed service delivery
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive outcomes in a dynamic environment
- Commitment to the values and purpose of Carers SA and the broader community services sector
- Current South Australian driver’s licence and willingness to undertake intrastate travel as required
- Ability to obtain and maintain required clearances, including Working With Children Check, National Police Check and mandatory child protection training
