Senior Manager, Product

Introduction

Our client is a globally recognized asset management firm with a growing presence in Japan. They are seeking a Senior Manager, Product to join their Distribution function, playing a critical role in driving product strategy and supporting business expansion across both retail and institutional channels.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Product, this position sits within the Product team and is responsible for executing the firm’s product strategy in Japan. The role offers broad exposure across the full product lifecycle—from development and launch to governance and ongoing management.

You will work closely with local and regional stakeholders to deliver investment solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the commercial success of the firm’s offerings. This is a highly visible role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and execution of product and marketing strategies
• Conduct competitive analysis of internal offerings and peer products
• Coordinate cross-functional teams during product launches and modifications in line with governance frameworks
• Liaise with regional and global stakeholders across investments, operations, and client-facing teams
• Ensure product structures comply with legal, regulatory, and tax requirements
• Prepare internal approval materials for new product launches and changes
• Draft key documentation including term sheets, regulatory filings, and agreements
• Prepare materials and data for external disclosure in line with governance standards
• Define and coordinate investment and operational processes
• Conduct due diligence on third-party investment managers in collaboration with global teams
• Respond to investment questionnaires from prospective distribution partners

Requirements

• University degree, ideally in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the asset management industry
• Strong understanding of relevant Japanese regulations governing investment products
• Experience in drafting product-related documentation (e.g., term sheets, legal agreements, disclosure materials) is preferred
• Business-level proficiency in English
• Strong analytical skills with a commercial mindset
• High attention to detail and ability to manage complex tasks independently
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across functions and seniority levels
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to challenge and improve existing processes
• Resilient and confident in articulating and defending well-reasoned viewpoints
