Senior Accountant

Why the Role Exists

A new CFO has recently joined this growing business with a clear mandate to uplift the finance function. The immediate priority is finding an experienced accountant to step in quickly and provide stability. Someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of core accounting tasks, and support a broader process improvement journey. The finance function is currently highly manual and there is real opportunity to add value well beyond just transactional processing. This role is being engaged on an initial 3-month contract basis, however for the right person there is a genuine pathway to a permanent position.

The Business

A well-established and fast-growing business with a current turnover of circa $25M. With significant headcount growth underway and a newly appointed CFO driving a finance transformation agenda, this is a business in real growth mode and they need capable hands to help them scale. The office culture is relaxed and non-corporate, with a collaborative team environment and on-site parking based on Brisbanes south side. 

What You'll Be Doing

• Month-end reporting and reconciliations
• Accounts receivable management
• BAS and FBT preparation
• Supporting accounts payable, including payment runs, with a focus on cash flow
• Payroll review and checking

What We're Looking For

Must-have:

• Strong Excel capability
• Experience in project or job costing environments, ideally within industries that operate across multiple sites or contracts
• Comfortable operating in a manual environment with a process improvement mindset

Nice to have:

• MYOB experience
• CA or CPA qualification
