A fast-growing international resources business is entering a major development and construction phase and is seeking a highly capable Finance Manager / Financial Controller to join its Perth-based leadership team.

This is a confidential appointment within a well-backed mining development company with a highly experienced executive and board team, and a significant African-based project entering construction and financing phases.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal role at a critical point in the company’s lifecycle — supporting project financing, ERP transformation, and the build-out of a major mining operation.

The Opportunity

This is a broad, hands-on leadership finance role working directly with senior executives during a transformational growth phase.

You will be responsible for establishing strong financial control, driving commercial insight, and supporting key workstreams including:

• Large-scale project financing (circa US$350m capital raise process)
• Construction phase of a new mining operation in Africa
• End-to-end ERP implementation and finance systems uplift
• Development of procurement-to-pay governance and controls
• Board-level reporting, forecasting and strategic analysis

This role will initially be highly operational and “hands-on”, with the expectation that you will build structure, improve processes, and gradually help scale a finance team around you.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

• Lead monthly management reporting and board reporting packs
• Oversee month-end close, reconciliations and financial integrity
• Manage audit coordination and external advisor relationships
• Ensure strong governance, compliance and control frameworks

Project Finance & Commercial Support

• Support project financing processes, lender due diligence and modelling
• Analyse feasibility studies, construction budgets and investment cases
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and scenario analysis across the group
• Provide commercial insights to support operational decision-making

ERP & Systems Transformation

• Lead ERP implementation from finance perspective (design to rollout)
• Improve reporting capability through system and process enhancement
• Drive automation, efficiency and scalable finance structures
• Strengthen procurement-to-pay processes and financial controls

International Operations Exposure

• Work closely with African project and operational teams
• Interpret and analyse information from developing-market operations
• Adapt to cross-cultural working environments and varied reporting standards
• Provide clarity and structure in complex or evolving operational settings

About You

We are seeking a high-performing finance professional who is:

• Likely a Big 4 Audit Manager or equivalent technically strong background
• Technically excellent in accounting, reporting and financial control
• Highly resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in ambiguity
• Strong in Excel and able to build clear, robust financial models and reports
• Capable of reading feasibility studies and understanding project economics
• Experienced (or highly interested) in ERP implementations and systems change
• Strong communicator who can influence senior stakeholders
• Commercially curious and eager to learn the mining and project development lifecycle
• Comfortable working in African or emerging-market operational environments
• Strong understanding of governance, controls and procurement-to-pay processes
