Director of Nursing- Assisted Living Industry

As a Director of Nursing (DON) in our Assisted Living manages the nursing department, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective patient care by overseeing staff, budgets, policies, and resident care plans. Key responsibilities include clinical leadership, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, team management, and financial oversight, all while serving as a primary liaison to residents, families, and other healthcare providers.

Core Responsibilities

• Clinical Leadership & Quality Assurance: Provide clinical direction, develop and implement policies and procedures, and lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident outcomes and satisfaction.
• Staff Management: Recruit, train, evaluate, and supervise the nursing team, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
• Resident Care: Oversee the creation and implementation of resident care plans, ensuring they are followed and regularly reviewed.
• Budget & Resource Management: Manage the nursing department's budget, optimize resource allocation, and maintain cost-effective operations.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local regulations and ensure all services adhere to these standards.
• Communication: Serve as a key point of contact, communicating effectively with residents, families, physicians, and other departments.
• Performance Monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of nursing services and identify areas for improvement.

Typical Qualifications & Skills

• Education: A degree in nursing (Registered Nurse) is required.
• Licensing: State-required licenses and certifications in Illinois State.
• Experience: Significant experience in nursing, with a strong preference for senior living, assisted living or long term care settings.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, performance monitoring, and managing electronic health records (EHRs) is beneficial.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with diverse groups.
• Decision-Making: The ability to make sound, independent decisions in complex situations.
