About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong mechanical and/or pipeline background to support the delivery of multi-discipline operational capital projects. This role is suited to someone who can operate across scope definition, detailed design coordination, vendor engagement, cost/schedule management, and transition into execution, with a strong focus on safe, practical outcomes for operations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop scopes of work and supporting documentation for multi-discipline projects (mechanical, piping/pipelines, structural, E&I interfaces as required).
- Engage operational stakeholders to confirm requirements and ensure project outcomes are fit-for-purpose.
- Interface management between consultants, suppliers, vendors, and internal design teams.
- Obtain and evaluate technical, cost, and schedule information from suppliers and vendors.
- Support project budget allocation, cashflow forecasting, and reporting.
- Work closely with scheduling to ensure plans and milestones are achievable and tracked.
- Assist with handover/transition from project definition/approval into execution.
- Engineering degree (Mechanical preferred) or equivalent relevant tertiary qualification.
- Strong Project Engineering experience, particularly involving detailed design for:
- Fixed plant (mining/process facilities, materials handling, utilities), and
- Pipelines / piping systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of project controls fundamentals (cost, schedule, reporting).
- Working knowledge and practical application of Australian Standards.
- Strong ability to balance technical requirements with commercial outcomes.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and able to manage multiple workstreams.
- Confident communicator—able to work across operations, engineering, vendors, and contractors.
- Proactive, structured problem-solver with a practical delivery mindset.
