Position Summary
The Electrical Test Technician is responsible for performing comprehensive electrical testing and inspections in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), National Electrical Code (NEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and International Electrical Testing Association (NETA) standards. This role plays a key part in ensuring product safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a wide range of electrical tests and inspections on equipment, systems, and components in compliance with UL, NEC, IEEE, and NETA standards.
- Test and support products including dead-front switchboards, utility metering enclosures, transfer switches, control panels, service pedestals, ANSI metal-clad switchgear, and generator connection enclosures (cam-loks).
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Stay up to date on revisions to industry standards and assist with implementing changes across testing processes.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports for Engineering and Management, including findings and recommendations.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety by following established protocols and identifying potential hazards.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to mitigate safety risks and improve system reliability.
- Maintain, calibrate, and manage testing equipment to ensure accuracy and readiness.
- Provide technical support to customers for product start-up, troubleshooting, warranty claims, replacement components, and coordination with third-party field service vendors.
- Travel for on-site customer support only when absolutely necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
- Prior experience as an Electrical Test Technician or in a similar role
- Working knowledge of electrical industry standards (UL, NEC, IEEE, NETA)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening
