Senior Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join a high-performing, site-based capital projects team. This role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of mechanical work packages within a multi-disciplinary environment on a long-term FIFO assignment. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a construction and commissioning setting and has a strong track record delivering mechanical scopes safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of mechanical work packages, including structural and piping scopes
• Manage contractor performance, engagement, and compliance on site
• Oversee QA processes, inspections, and design adherence
• Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and resources
• Develop and maintain project schedules
• Monitor costs, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities
• Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities
• Promote and uphold a strong safety culture
• Provide regular reporting on project performance and KPIs

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience in site-based project delivery within mining or heavy industry
• Proven experience across construction, testing, and commissioning phases
• Strong contractor and contract management capability
• Experience in client-side or owner’s team environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• High attention to detail with strong technical interpretation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and team collaboration
