Financial Accountant

Opportunity to work with growing Sydney based Fintech. You will be working within their CFO Advisory practice and act as an outsourced finance partner to a portfolio of clients, taking ownership of core financial accounting, reporting, compliance, and month-end activities while providing trusted advice to business leaders.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with a client-focused consulting mindset. You'll be comfortable managing multiple clients simultaneously, building relationships with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality financial outcomes in a dynamic professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Manage end-to-end month-end and year-end processes across multiple client engagements.
• Prepare management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis.
• Produce statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS and AASB requirements.
• Prepare and support ASX reporting obligations, including 4C/5B, 4D and 4E reporting.
• Manage BAS, payroll tax, FBT and other compliance requirements.
• Provide practical advice on technical accounting matters.
• Support external audits and act as a key liaison with auditors.

Client Advisory & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as a trusted finance partner to clients and key stakeholders.
• Build strong client relationships through proactive communication and high-quality service delivery.
• Understand client business needs and provide commercial financial insights.
• Manage competing priorities across multiple client engagements.

Process Improvement & Systems

• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and reporting.
• Support finance system implementations and process transformation initiatives.
• Drive efficiencies and best-practice finance outcomes for clients.

To be considered for this role you will have:

• CA or CPA qualification.
• 5+ years' experience in financial accounting, reporting, audit or advisory.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and AASB.
• Experience managing month-end reporting and financial compliance activities.
• Client-facing experience within a professional services, consulting, outsourced finance or audit environment.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to build credibility with stakeholders.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero.
• Exposure to ASX-listed entities and reporting requirements is highly regarded.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
