General Accountant

A growing organization in the distribution and operations sector is seeking a General Accountant to join its finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to build on their technical foundation while gaining exposure to financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end processes, and multi-entity accounting operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Ledger Manager, this position will support the accounting team with financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records while supporting ongoing operational and reporting requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with the preparation and posting of journal entries and general ledger transactions
• Perform account reconciliations and review supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including financial reporting and analysis
• Assist in preparing trial balances, balance sheets, and other standard financial reports
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting files
• Investigate discrepancies and assist with resolving accounting-related issues
• Collaborate with internal departments to gather information and support financial processes
• Provide day-to-day accounting and administrative support to the finance team
• Contribute to process improvements and support ongoing operational initiatives as needed

What You Bring

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA designation or active pursuit of completion is preferred
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience in industry or public accounting
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes
• Experience working with ERP or financial reporting systems is considered an asset
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong attention to detail and analytical ability
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
• Exposure to multi-entity or distribution-related environments is considered an asset
