We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well established heavy diesel and machinery service provider based in Palmerston North. They are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Field Service Technician to join their high performing team in a permanent, full time capacity.

This position offers a dynamic mix of workshop and field service work, providing autonomy, technical variety, and genuine career progression within a reputable and growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of heavy diesel machinery and equipment
• Perform engine rebuilds, hydraulic system repairs, electrical diagnostics, and general maintenance
• Attend on site breakdowns and manage field service calls across the Manawatū region
• Operate a fully equipped service vehicle for field assignments
• Utilise advanced diagnostic tools to minimise equipment downtime
• Collaborate with a skilled and professional team committed to quality workmanship

Skills and Experience Required

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working on heavy diesel, truck, construction, or agricultural machinery
• Level 4 Trade Qualification in Heavy Automotive or a related discipline
• Strong capability in hydraulics, electrical systems, and engine diagnostics
• Confidence working independently in both workshop and field environments
• Full New Zealand driver’s licence
• Professional attitude with strong problem solving skills
