Position
An opportunity exists for a Senior Process & Commissioning Engineer to join a growing team in Sydney.
This is a senior, hands-on role focused on the design, optimisation, and commissioning of soil washing, recycling, and water treatment plants.
You will be involved across the full project lifecycle—from process design through to on-site commissioning—supporting the delivery of high-performance systems that convert contaminated materials into reusable products.
The role is Sydney-based, offering a flexible working model (typically 3 days in the office), with travel required to project sites as needed.

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle—from process design through to on-site commissioning—supporting the delivery of high-performance systems that convert contaminated materials into reusable products.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead process design across soil washing plants, recycling systems, and water treatment facilities
- Design and optimise separation processes including hydrocyclones, screening, classification, and materials handling systems
- Develop and refine water treatment processes including settlement, thickening, pH adjustment, and water reuse within wash plants
- Drive water quality improvements to enhance recovery rates and increase value of recycled sand and aggregates
- Support treatment strategies for complex contaminants including hydrocarbons, heavy metals, and PFAS
- Lead and support on-site commissioning activities, ensuring plant performance aligns with design intent
- Work closely with Process Engineers to define dosing strategies and optimise system performance
About You
- Proven experience in process design within water, wastewater, or materials processing environments
- Strong commissioning experience across industrial plants (e.g. wash plants, WTP/WWTP, mining or recycling facilities)
- Experience with separation technologies such as hydrocyclones, screening, and dewatering systems
- Solid understanding of water treatment processes including clarification, thickening, and chemical dosing
- Exposure to contaminated water or soil treatment (e.g. hydrocarbons, metals, PFAS) advantageous
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Flexible working (typically 3 days office-based)
