Reporting to the Assistant Director, you will work with a professional team who are all dedicated to making a different in the lives of their clients.


About the role:

The successful candidate will deliver critical mental health support to clients, assess their needs, develop tailored intervention plans, and contribute to a team focused on improving outcomes for veterans. Your role will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining detailed documentation, and ensuring compliance with departmental standards.   • Support regional teams by reviewing and allocating clients for counselling services, ensuring they are suitable for both initial and ongoing support in line with service guidelines.
  • Make sure all work follows clinical policies and that the correct forms and templates are used (such as intake, risk assessment, and care planning documents).
  • Provide quality counselling and support services — including risk assessment, referrals, individual, couple, and family sessions, and case management — to help clients achieve their goals.
  • Keep accurate and confidential client records, including session notes, care plans, risk assessments, and other updates in the client management system.
  • Take part in professional development and clinical supervision to maintain your professional registration.
  • Follow all relevant laws, ethical standards, and policies related to client care.
  • Meet regularly with your manager and other clinicians to discuss client progress and care plans.
  • Work with clients’ families and other treatment providers to make sure care is well-coordinated.
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and professional work environment that aligns with organisational values and goals.


About you:
  • You will have current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA) or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • You will have Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance (Blue Card) ideally, or have it granted before commencing the role
  • You will have experience in a similar clinical role
  • You will have extensive case management experience
  • You will be passionate about clinical psychology and social work to support mental health initiatives
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills with competence in the provision of trauma informed, holistic, client centered intake, assessment and brief intervention with vulnerable clients
  • You will have experience providing support and intervention over the telephone for clients presenting a high risk of suicidality and apply appropriate assessment and safety planning
  • You will have ability to complete clinically appropriate intake assessment and documentation with formulated risk assessments which are tailored, appropriate, and actioned in accordance with presenting risk
  • Clinicians work in a rostered environment across between 7 am and 7pm on business days within a hybrid work from office/home model providing over the phone clinical services for Australian veterans and their families.


Benefits:
  • Casual temp contract to start ASAP (pending federal police clearance)
  • Long term temporary contract for 12 months
  • $67 to $75 per hour plus super
  • Full time role Monday to Friday
