Apply directWe’re currently partnering with a well-established private nursing home group in Kilkenny City to recruit a Director of Nursing (DON) for a full-time, permanent leadership role.
This is a key senior position for an experienced nurse leader who wants to shape clinical standards, drive quality care, and lead a strong multidisciplinary team in a supportive, resident-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall leadership and management of nursing and care teams
- Ensuring full compliance with HIQA standards and regulatory requirements
- Clinical governance, audits, policies, and quality improvement initiatives
- Staff supervision, mentoring, and performance management
- Resident care planning and safeguarding oversight
- Liaising with families, GPs, allied health professionals, and inspectors
- Budget awareness and operational input alongside management team
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RNID, RGN or equivalent) with NMBI registration
- Minimum 3 years experience in a management role within the last 6 years.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA standards and elderly care regulations
- Proven leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Experience in dementia/geriatric care is highly desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in management or healthcare leadership.
