Senior Estimator – Commercial Construction
A well-established commercial construction contractor is experiencing strong, consistent growth across Sydney and the wider NSW market. The business specialises in education, healthcare, commercial, and civil construction projects, delivering high-quality refurbishment, fit-out, redevelopment, and live-environment works across both public and private sectors. With a strong reputation built over 20+ years, the company is known for its collaborative culture, professional integrity, and ability to consistently deliver complex projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end estimating and tendering process across commercial construction projects.
• Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and project scopes in detail.
• Prepare accurate cost plans, take-offs, BOQs, subcontractor comparisons, and tender submissions.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids.
• Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative construction methodologies.
• Work closely with Directors, Project Managers, and Operations teams during pre-construction phases.
• Attend tender meetings, site inspections, and client briefings where required.
• Prepare detailed tender clarifications, scope reviews, and post-tender negotiations.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and key industry stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems, processes, and cost databases.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, procurement strategies, and pipeline planning.
• Support the business in securing repeat work and long-term client relationships.

About You / Requirements

• Proven experience as an Estimator within commercial construction, with exposure to fit-out, refurbishment, education, healthcare, and commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, buildability, cost planning, and interpreting technical drawings/specifications.
• Well-connected within the Sydney subcontractor and supplier market, with strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Highly organised with strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
• Confident using estimating software, Excel, and construction management systems, with relevant construction qualifications preferred.
