About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly capable Senior Payroll Officer for a temporary assignment of approximately 3 months to support a small payroll team during a period of operational demand and system transition. This is an ASAP start role.
You will step into a senior payroll support position, reporting directly to the CFO, and working alongside two Payroll Coordinators to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll for approximately 1,174 employees.
You will play a key role, providing guidance, mentoring, and escalation support to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance and continuity.
This is a full-time role, working Monday – Friday. There is flexibility to work 1 day per week from home once you are fully inducted.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across EBA and common law employee groups
• Support, mentor and guide two Payroll Coordinators, demonstrating best practice in payroll processes
• Act as escalation point for complex payroll queries and issues
• Ensure compliance with relevant awards, EBAs and legislative requirements
• Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and strong attention to detail across all payroll functions
• Support payroll system processes and transition activities as required
About You
• Strong end-to-end payroll experience in a medium to large organisation
• Confident EBA interpretation skills (aged care experience highly regarded)
• Ability to operate in a senior support capacity and mentor junior staff
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
• Experience in fast-paced, compliance-driven environments
• Payroll system experience (Employee Connect desirable, but not essential)
