Category Manager

We’re partnering with a well-established FMCG business based in Sydney to recruit a commercially sharp, insights-led Category Manager. This role will support growth across a diverse portfolio of owned and partner brands. Reporting into a Senior Category Manager, this role plays a key part in shaping and executing category strategy across retail and foodservice channels, ensuring brands are positioned strongly within the Australian market.

This is a hands-on role that blends analytics with stakeholder engagement. You’ll contribute to overarching category strategy while leading selected customer-specific plans, driving range reviews, analysing performance, and building compelling retailer presentations that connect category insight with brand priorities. You’ll work closely with Sales, Revenue Growth, Marketing, Innovation and Finance to bring strategies to life, while also acting as a key point of contact for external brand partners.

A core focus will be performance analysis and market insight. You’ll interpret data from Circana/IRI, Nielsen, Quantium and retailer portals to track category trends, identify risks and opportunities, and support proactive commercial responses. You’ll also collaborate on pricing and promotional strategy, evaluating effectiveness and helping improve ROI across the portfolio.

We’re looking for someone with 4+ years’ experience in Category Management or commercial strategy within FMCG, ideally with exposure to major grocery retailers. You’ll be confident presenting category stories to customers, comfortable navigating complex portfolios, and credible in conversations with both internal teams and external partners. Strong analytical capability and commercial acumen are essential, alongside the ability to translate data into clear, actionable narratives.
