JOB OVERVIEW:
The Manager, Material Planning is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and ordering of materials to support Swiftwater production plans using MRP or re-order point methods in SAP. This position serves as the direct point of contact for area focus factory teams and works with them to identify needed materials, uncover potential material shortages, and assist in determining solutions to prevent production schedule delays. Considering the inventory investment and storage constraints, the role manages their respective inventory to optimize availability and safety stock levels while minimizing risk of stock out, obsolescence, and expiration.
Responsibilities:
Manages their respective inventory to optimize material availability and safety stock levels while minimizing risk of stock out, obsolescence, and expiration within consideration of Inventory $ investment and storage constraints. The individual works with the appropriate focus factory teams and business systems team to understand raw material consumption, requirements and changes to projects or production plans to ensure raw materials are available as needed and identify potential component shortages and assist in developing solutions.
Processes MDOs for their assigned materials, within current timeline parameters. Actively scans for obsolescent and rejected materials and initiates MDOs for such. Also processes any invoicing issues in the appropriate electronic system.
Responsible for the planning, coordinating, and ordering of all materials to support IA M-Tech and GEM projects & R&D Product Development activities and production plans.
Upon material receipt, interfaces as needed with the Logistic Technicians and/or vendor to resolve any delivery discrepancies or damage. Coordinates returns to the vendor through the issuance of a debit memo. Partners with PQMR, QC, and Logistic Technicians as needed to prioritize material releases to support production.
Participates in the site-wide critical materials management initiative. Supports Purchasing, M-tech and supplier quality efforts to minimize the impact of single source supply. Relays information on potential supply disruptions or issues and facilitates resolution.
In conjunction with the Procurement/Purchasing dept, the raw material planner is responsible for the development and management of supplier working relationships through the sharing of long range forecast, other required information, and understanding the suppliers processes and operations.
Assists with analyzing department metrics. The summary may include turns analysis, drivers for inventory level changes, obsolescence, MDO status, aging, safety stock level review, etc.
Misc. projects and duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree in Business Logistics/Supply Chain or Technical/Engineering/Science field with minimum of 5 yrs. relevant professional experience or 10 yrs. of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
APICS Certification in Inventory Management (CPIM) or Supply Chain (CSCP), preferred.
Strong understanding of MRP/ERP planning concepts. SAP experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills with all levels in a company.
Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, etc. Must be able to manage and analyze large amounts of data using Excel.
