Overview

A county law enforcement agency is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Patrol Deputy. This position is responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and responding to a wide range of emergency and non-emergency situations. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, independence, and the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary: $58,221 + certificate pay

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to calls for service and enforce federal, state, and local laws
• Conduct routine patrols to deter and detect criminal activity
• Investigate incidents, gather evidence, and prepare reports
• Mediate disputes and provide assistance to the public
• Apprehend suspects and transport detainees
• Protect life and property in potentially hazardous situations
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies as needed

Qualifications

• Active Basic Peace Officer License (TCOLE) or higher
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
• Must reside in or relocate to Hemphill County within 90 days of hire
