Position Summary

Our client is a leading midstream energy company operating an extensive network of liquid pipelines across the United States, known for their scale, technical sophistication, and commitment to pipeline integrity and safety.

As the Enhanced Leak Detection System (ELDS) Engineer, you will perform hydraulic analysis, real-time transient modelling, alarm analysis, and controller training for liquid pipelines. You will work within a team of highly skilled engineers, playing a key role in executing ELDS models and Leak Detection Programme (LDP) initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the implementation of ELDS models and other LDP initiatives
  • Monitor alarm rates on ELDS applications and investigate elevated alarm rates, including “Bad Actor” false alarms
  • Conduct CPM (Computational Pipeline Monitoring) performance evaluations
  • Perform hydraulic analysis and real-time transient modelling for liquid pipelines
  • Analyse alarms and provide training to pipeline controllers



Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering required
  • 5+ years of experience in the energy industry working with pipeline simulation required
  • Midstream oil and gas experience preferred



Knowledge & Skills

  • MUST HAVE — AVEVA DNA SCADA: Direct, hands-on experience with AVEVA DNA SCADA (not LMS only). Candidates must understand platform configuration, data flow, and ELDS application integration.

  • MUST HAVE — DNV Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS): Proven experience building and maintaining SPS models (Statefinder / Leakfinder Liquids).

  • MUST HAVE — RTTM-to-SCADA Integration: Direct experience integrating real-time transient pipeline models with live SCADA data feeds, including continuous model execution and alarm output to operator interfaces.

  • Working knowledge of fluid properties and hydraulic theory
  • Knowledge of at least one real-time transient pipeline model simulation software required; familiarity with multiple packages preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage all levels of management
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments
  • Familiarity with the following is an advantage:
    • Microsoft – Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Access or any other relational database
    • Python programming language
    • NIST – Refprop
    • SQL Database
