Diagnosing and treating various illnesses and diseases in a hospital
Examining patients as they're admitted
Coordinating care for hospitalized patients
Communicating with a patient's primary care doctor
Following up with a patient's primary care doctor after their hospital stay
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, lab work, and X-rays
Answering patient questions about treatments

Shoes: Footwear must be clean, in good repair, provide for adequate safety, closed-toe and closed-heel regardless of the wearer’s responsibilities or purpose for being in patient care area. Socks, stockings or any type of hosiery must be worn.
Hair Color: Hair must be neat, clean, and well-groomed. All colors must be natural looking. Beards and mustaches must be kept clean and well-groomed.
Nails: The use of artificial fingernail enhancements is prohibited because they contribute to an increased risk of colonization and transmission of potential pathogens. Anything applied to natural nails other than polish is considered an enhancement. This includes, but is not limited to artificial nails, tips, stickers, wraps, acrylics, gels, shellac, and appliques. Natural nails must be kept shorter than ¼” long and polish must be conservative and in good repair. This applies to any personnel who will perform direct patient care or prepare products (food/beverages, medications, etc.) for patients.
Tattoos: Not addressed
Piercings: Jewelry should be conservative and not pose a safety risk. Earrings must be limited to 2 pair. Facial and tongue jewelry are prohibited while on duty.
Other: Makeup is to be conservative. ID badge is to be worn at all times. The use of cologne, perfumes, body sprays, or strong scented aftershave is prohibited.
