MAYDAY is currently partnering with a leading organisation undergoing a significant payroll transformation, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join the team on a 6-month contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a high-impact role during a critical period of change, supporting both BAU payroll operations and key system and legislative projects, including the transition to ADP GlobalView and upcoming payday super reforms.
About the Role
Reporting into senior payroll leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring payroll stability while also driving critical project initiatives.
This is not a passive processing role — we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership, and confidently navigate complexity.
Why Join?

- Start Date: ASAP
- Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (flexible)
- Work Type: Remote / hybrid (Sydney-based team)
- Potential for part-time (3-4 days/week)
- Be part of a major payroll transformation project
- Work within a large, collaborative payroll team (13 members)
- Flexible working arrangements (remote options available)
- Opportunity to take real ownership and make a tangible impact
- Exposure to system implementation, process improvement, and legislative change
- End-to-end processing of a high-volume fortnightly payroll (6,500–7,000+ employees)
- Managing and supporting superannuation compliance, including complex scenarios such as caps and upcoming payday super changes
- Supporting the transition from Preceda to ADP GlobalView
- Acting as a key liaison between payroll, IT, and project teams
- Troubleshooting system and payroll issues, and driving solutions proactively
- Managing payroll activities including terminations, redundancies, and manual calculations
- Assisting with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger queries
- Contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
- Strong experience in high-volume payroll environments (ideally 5,000+ employees)
- Deep knowledge of Australian superannuation, including caps and legislative changes
- Experience with Preceda and/or ADP GlobalView (highly desirable)
- Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and manage competing priorities
- Confidence in handling manual payroll calculations (not just system-based processing)
