Medical Device Assembler – 1st Shift
Location: Sylmar, CA
Shift: 1st Shift | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Position Overview
The Medical Device Assembler is responsible for producing high-quality medical devices within a manufacturing cell environment. Working under close supervision, this role performs routine assembly, repair, and testing operations on pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), leads, and related medical device components, following standardized procedures and strict quality guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, repair, and test medical devices and subassemblies according to documented procedures
  • Perform routine manufacturing assignments with work closely reviewed for accuracy and quality
  • Maintain accurate production, traveler, and quality documentation to ensure full part traceability
  • Ensure job documentation for cell operations is accurate and up to date
  • Communicate effectively with manufacturing leadership regarding ideas, issues, and solutions (written and verbal)
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required safety equipment at all times
  • Participate in continuous improvement, quality, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
  • Support production goals, cell performance metrics, and individual development objectives
  • Comply with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and all regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a professional, positive attitude when interacting with internal teams and external visitors (e.g., tours)
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures and verbal instructions
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Ability to use electronic data collection systems and standard computer software
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle small, delicate components
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow sequencing
  • Ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to handle and maneuver small parts and components
  • Ability to work in a regulated clean manufacturing environment
  • Must comply with strict gowning, safety, and cleanliness standards
Dress Code & Cleanroom Requirements
Due to the regulated manufacturing environment, strict dress code compliance is required during interviews, tours, and on the job:
  • Clothing must be non-shedding, clean, and free of loose fibers, frays, glitter, sequins, tassels, or contaminants
  • Loose knit, fleece, sweaters, or garments that shed fibers are not permitted
  • All clothing must fit completely under required lab coats/gowns
  • Sleeves and collars must not extend beyond gown cuffs or neckline
  • Pants, skirts, and sleeves must fully cover legs, torso, and upper arms
  • No sleeveless tops, short shirts, slits, cropped pants, or open garments
  • Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes required; heel height not to exceed 2 inches
  • No sandals, clogs, slippers, open-toe, or open-heel shoes
  • Jewelry, body piercings, makeup, nail polish, artificial nails, and scented products are not allowed
  • Lip balm (stick form only) may be applied outside production areas
  • Any wounds must be fully covered with a bandage
  • Clothing or items deemed offensive are prohibited
