Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Regulatory Officer will provide high-level advice relating to operational policy, legislative interpretation, and regulatory reform initiatives. The role is responsible for undertaking detailed research and analysis, preparing high-quality reports, briefings, discussion papers, and correspondence, and contributing to the development of policy proposals and reform outcomes.
The successful candidate will engage and consult with a diverse range of stakeholders across government and industry, provide strategic advice and recommendations, and support the delivery of projects and initiatives within a complex regulatory environment.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organised and analytical professional with exceptional written communication skills and experience working within policy, regulatory, legislative, or government environments. They will demonstrate a strong ability to research and analyse complex issues, prepare high-quality written materials, and provide advice and recommendations to a consistently high standard.
The successful applicant will have the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and contribute to the development of practical and well-informed policy outcomes. They will demonstrate initiative, professionalism, sound judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level advice relating to legislation, operational policy, and regulatory matters
  • Conduct research and analysis to support legislative reform and strategic initiatives
  • Prepare briefings, reports, submissions, correspondence, and Ministerial responses
  • Manage projects and contribute to project planning, monitoring, and reporting activities
  • Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies
  • Support policy development, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor emerging issues and risks and recommend appropriate solutions and strategies
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement and communication activities

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting legislation and providing high-level policy or regulatory advice
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, briefings, discussion papers, submissions, and formal correspondence
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to assess complex information and provide sound recommendations
  • Proven ability to consult and engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Experience developing proposals, policy initiatives, or legislative reform recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes in fast-paced environments
  • Experience managing or contributing to projects and strategic initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Experience within government, regulatory, policy, or legislative environments will be highly regarded
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, public policy, project management, or a related discipline will be advantageous
